Inspire me, I said

Inspire me, I said

So you drove me high into the hills

Gently swerving

To avoid the occasionally  deer.

And when we got there

Where had most certainly been our destination

Almost entirely enclosed by

Greenish shades

Of various hues

You gazed beyond the clearing

Infused with everything around

Impaling on my memory

A pick-me-up

For desperate times

Unquickly yet I looked unknowing

What it was I meant to see

Hearing breeze and unfamiliar bird call

Just delighted

As you were there with me.

Then I noticed the dew

And the ants around my feet

And then far beyond my normal reach

The lowly lying city

Conversation was not the point

Yet the language had a strange resemblance

To states of freedom and of joy

A recollection of a dream or

A blurry distant life

(24th April 2005)

I would walk

I would walk

down your street

to accidentally

On purpose.

But it never happened

That chance meeting

With you

For as we’ve never met

I know not where you live

(22nd March 2005, on the 171 bus)

Motorcycling

You dare tell me, not even to dream

Not to fill every cushioned curve of my body

With the knowledge that I am capable of doing anything I put my mind to.

You dare tell me, that I wasn’t made to do such an unfeminine thing.

To be in charge, and in control

As I kiss the wind.
